Q&A: Buddhism & Depression & Chemical Imbalance?

Question by JD: Buddhism & Depression & Chemical Imbalance?
Would it be secure to say that depression is not only a form of suffering but that it is caused by an attachment?
As I understand it, all suffering is due to attachment so could depression be broken down this way?
In some cases (clinically I assume) depression is simply noticed as a chemical imbalance. Is it feasible then that when a individual overcomes depression thru becoming non-attached, the chemical imbalances that once was is

depression and anxiety scale
