Can parents force a child into counseling if over 18?

Is it possible for parents to force a child to go into counseling for depression if the child is over 18? I know of some emergency hospitalization laws, but the child isn't any danger to herself or others, yet.
Someone mentioned something about as long as you aren't living under their roof. Is there a loophole in a lot of laws for that? Looking into it for some family, and wondered if that would matter or not.
