When you hang a weight from the center of a beam which is supported at both ends what stress do you induce on?

Question by Thechamp 360: When you hang a weight from the center of a beam which is supported at both ends what stress do you induce on?
When you hang a weight from the center of a beam which is supported at both ends what stress do you induce on the beam and where?

Is it compressive, tensile, shear, or some other kind of stress?

I am very confused.

I have to do this for my science project and I haven't been able to figure out the answer.

Thank You!!!!!
