Pain in bottom of foot, by toe (4th metatarsal) joint?

Ok, in Feb I had lots of pain in my foot. It is in the 4th metatarsal bone...like the toe beside the baby toe. The pain is in the bottom, ball part, not the top, and not at the back. I have pain now, but not like it was. It also "clicks" when I step down. (like bone popping in and out) If I step on something hollow you will hear the clicks as I step and release. Any ideas? I think it is a stress
